Bespoke Summer Sets

In the summertime, I love eating outside. Dining al fresco, I’ll say, if I want to sound fancier than I am. In reality, it’s a simple change that makes an everyday occurrence feel a bit more special. It also helps me, a generally indoorsy person, feel like I’m making the most of the warm and sunny summer months.

Oftentimes you’ll find outdoor furniture sold in matching sets. While there is nothing inherently wrong with buying a set, I feel like I’d be remiss not to put together a few different bespoke options suiting a range of styles.

While you certainly don’t need to rush out and buy anything new - let’s face it you could carry your dinner outside and eat on the grass - I’ve put together a collection of outdoor dining looks to elevate your setup in the case that you are looking to invest or refresh.

Provence, Please

Our inspiration:

Our interpretation:

1. Dining Chair | 2. Table | 3. Rug | 4. Planter | 5. Pillow | 6. Candle | 7. Wine Glass | 8. Platter | 9. Plate | 10. Lanterns | 11. Woven Tray | 12. Napkin | 13. Flatware

The marble, the black metal, and the delicate proportion of the dining table and chairs make this feel like a modern take on a French inspired bistro. I leaned into those vibes with the accessories, selecting some French summer inspired details like classic patterns with pops of blues, greens, and whites.

Earthy but Colourful but Modern

Our inspiration:

Our interpretation:

1. Dining Chair | 2. Table | 3. Rug | 4. Planter | 5. Candle | 6. Metal Tray | 7. Lantern | 8. Napkin | 9. Flatware | 10. Plate | 11. Water Glass | 12. Wine Glass | 13. Two Tier Planter

This feels fun, modern, and fresh, but it’s still grounded by earthy tones and natural materials in some of the larger pieces. Keeping the actual furniture items neutral and jazzing things up with accessories is a nice option to ensure you aren’t designing yourself into a corner in the future - this style could be endlessly updated with a few bold accessories being swapped out!

Nancy Meyers Movie

Our inspiration:

Our interpretation:

Ok I know the whole point here was to move away from furniture sets…but this one from Ikea made me want to challenge myself to work with it as is while creating a more elevated look. It’s classic, it’s versatile, it’s affordable. There are even different table sizes to make the most of whatever outdoor space you have. It’s giving Nancy Meyers summer patio dining. What more could you want!?
