Our Favourite Blue Paint Colours
Blue hues might not be the first thing you think of when you hear the term “neutrals” but I think you should reconsider. Maybe it’s because blue is so prevalent in nature, or perhaps it’s because I’m Canadian and denim will forever hold a special place in my heart. Whatever it is, I really do believe blue can work in seamlessly with almost any colour palette and that it has a place in most design styles.
From deep moody blues to fresh pastels and everything in between, there really is a shade for everyone and every style. The colour also plays wonderfully in many different applications. Walls, ceilings, cabinetry, or trim work - all can benefit from a coat of this versatile hue.
Here are some beautiful blue rooms that caught my eye and my favourite selection of blue paint colours to help you get the look in your own home.
Moody Blues
The following blues are dark and rich. These saturated tones have plenty of depth and suit a number of different styles and applications from walls, to cabinetry, to ceilings, or all three.

Pale Blues
Next up, the pale blues are softer, lighter, and more muted. Though often thought of as juvenile, the variety of tones in this category can add a sense of peace into numerous different grown up spaces as well.

Bright Blues
These shades of blue feel punchy, vibrant, and fresh. Though perhaps intimidating at first glance, bright blues can provide a beautifully intentional balance in rooms that would have otherwise been too formal, overly sweet, or a bit boring.

Barely Blues
Finally, the barely blues are shades that are very desaturated with lots of white, gray, and black in their composition. While they might not even appear blue at first glance, the context of usage is important. Other paint in the room, furnishings, or light can impact a colour and emphasize undertones.
